Ghanaian streetwear label Free The Youth revives a cult classic basketball sneaker in its debut collaborative project with Jordan Brand. Conceptualised in 2013 by a group of young creatives and visionaries, FTY empowers African youth through street fashion and culture, enabling them to express themselves through art and creative freedom. This limited-edition Free The Youth x Air Jordan 16 “White” brings modern appeal to the early 2000s basketball shoe, connecting its tech-driven design to the next generation. This AJ16 flaunts a grey base with a glossy patent leather toe cap inspired by MJ’s transition from the hardwood floors to the boardroom. The removable shroud reveals black suede overlays and orange mesh underlay, a far cry from the predominantly greyscale palette that dominates the exterior. The co-branded Jumpman and FTY logos celebrate the first-ever collaboration between the two companies, marking another milestone honouring the GOAT’s legacy beyond basketball. A bright green accent highlights the rear section for a pop of colour. The midsole features a hidden Zoom unit in the forefoot and a blow-moulded Air bubble in the heel for supportive cushioning. This iteration arrives in an exclusive shoe box and includes additional accessories for a premium unboxing.
